Global Design Project 087

Heya Stampers,

I am a little late in posting my card today as I meant to share it with you this morning but got a bit carried away with doing other things & it slipped my mind.

I’ve created my card using the challenge over at Global Design Project #87 where this week they have the theme of Cooking, Baking and Making!

When I saw the challenge, “Perfect Mix” Stamp Set sprung immediately into my mind.  This set is from the 2017 Occasions Catalogue & will be retiring at the end of May, so this is the perfect time to ink up this great set one last time.
20170516_130102bogaI actually created this fold last week.  To check out the instructions on how I created this fold, please click here.  It is the perfect way to use some of that lovely DSP sitting on your desk before it retires.
I decided to play with “Playful Palette” DSP Stack which is another item retiring.  I think it works in great with the set.  I also used the “Playful Palette” Washi Tape which is on the inside of my card & the envelope.  Gotta love it when everything matches.
To create my “shelf”, I stamped random images direct onto scraps of Very Vanilla Card in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink & coloured with the Sweet Sugarplum & Peekaboo Peach Markers & Bender Pen before fussy cutting.
I punched a piece of DSP with the 2″ Circle Punch & adhered to the Very Vanilla side of a Lace Doily (2017 Occasions Catalogue) & cut the Doily in half.
A circle was die cut from Very Vanilla Card using the Layering Circles Framelits & 20170516_130138blogbrunning through the Big Shot before layering onto a Basic Black scallop circle which had been die cut using the same set of Framelits & running through the Big Shot.
The “shelf” was adhered to the bottom part of the scallop circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals before adhering the baking images, the oven mitt with a Stampin’ Dimensional while the others were adhered with Liquid Glue.
The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Card in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, fussy cut & adhered to the top of the “shelf”.
I do hope you like my card today, I am still undecided but happy with the final result.  Why not head over to Global Design Project & play along.  There is still a heap of time to do so.
Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Floral Phrases

Heya Stampers,

I am showing you a card I saw on Pinterest last week with this fold, so I decided to sit myself down & play around trying to create the fold.  Thank you Lyssa for your 20170506_133036bloginspiration.

It showcases the gorgeous “Floral Boutique” DSP which is retiring at the end of May.  I have managed to finish about of the DSP for my card with just little bits & pieces left.  I’ve challenged myself to create a card using those pieces, so be sure to bop back in a couple of days to check out what I’ve done.

The fold actually looks harder then it really is.  I was quite surprised at how quick & easy it was to complete this fold as it looks harder than it really is.

Now is the perfect time to let you know that I have updated my Retired Products ( ex the current products retiring), so be sure to head on over to my “Retired Product 4 Sale” Page to check it out.  There is still more to add but that will be done over the next week.  A lot of it has already gone!

I think I will be creating more of these fun “Fanfare Fun Fold” Cards especially for classes.  It is also a great way of using up your retiring DSP.

By clicking on the link above the photo, you are able to download a Free Tutorial to create your own card using this fold.

Don’t forget to check out all the great products on the 2017 Retiring List by hopping onMay over to my Shop.  Stampin’ Up! have been updating items on the list and they are selling fast!  When placing an order Online, don’t forget to use May’s Host Code.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Happy Birthday Gail

My card today is one that has been getting around the Internet of late, well not my card but others like it.  It was created for a birthday last month.

I cut a piece of Playful Palette DSP to size & decided where I wanted the fold to be.  Once I had decided on the fold, I cut in about 2″ & simply folded & scored the DSP from the middle of the cut to each corner, ensuring that the fold was nice & sharp.

The DSP was the layered onto a piece of Card (which I didn’t realise at the time is a piece of my wedding card stock, thinking it was Cucumber Crush Card) & then onto the Base Card – Basic Black.

I stamped the large butterfly from Watercolor Wings onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Card in Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum & Memento Tuxedo Back Inks before cutting out with the matching Bold Butterfly Framelits & adhering to the centre fold of the Card Front with a Mini Glue Dot.

The greeting is from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set & was stamped onto a piece of scrap Very Vanilla Card in Cucumber Crush Ink, the frame in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, punched with the matching Duet Banner Punch before popping onto the Card Front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I love this DSP but was finding it hard to use.  Now that I’ve cut into it, I seem to heading for this Stack all the time.

Don’t forget, this is a great way to use up some of that DSP sitting on your shelves in the cupboard.  Why not head over to our Pretty Pattern Papers Page to see more ways of using DSP.  The Tutorials are also a great source for SU! Demonstrators who hold Classes, Workshops or Demonstrations.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Look Who’s Turning….

…40!  Happy 40th Birthday Trish.

My cousin turned the big 40 a couple of weeks ago, so I thought it the perfect time to try & attempt to create a “Twist & Pop” Card for her.  I took my inspiration from a card I found on Pinterest but found a Tutorial to create the card.  Unfortunately, I am unable to find the post, but thank you so20160915_134615_resizedfb much for your tutorial.

I used the lovely “Blooms & Bliss” DSP, “Number of Years”, “Thoughtful Banners ” & the “Watercolour Wings” Stamp Sets.   Along with the Stamp Sets, I used the Layered Oval Framelits & the Large Numbers Framelits (which go with the Number of Years Stamp Set).

Stampin’ Up! make it so easy for you when using DSP as they list the matching Colours.  I used Sahara Sand, Island Indigo & Whisper White Card, along with Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride, Island Indigo & Mint Macaron Inks.

Tips –

  • Ensure your score lines are burnished really well with a Bone Folder so that they are easy to fold
  • You may need to help your fold a little the first time you close your card

If you haven’t created one of these cards, be sure you do as they are very easy & lots of fun.  I don’t think this will be the last one I create.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

School Holidays Classes

Our card today is one we created in our first class for the School Holidays.

I have been asked a number of times about Card Class for Kids over the Holidays.  So, after getting the numbers to be able to run these classes, we created our first card.  The kids who came along (& the Mums, of course) all had a great time & absolutely 003nb-b;pgloved the card, were asking when the next class was going to be.

For the time being, these will be held every Friday both morning & afternoon sessions.  Please contact me if you would like to come along, as spaces are limited.

If the time comes, then the classes will be expanded to more days during the week of the School Holidays.  All classes are held at the Caloundra Community Centre.

I did find the inspiration on Pinterest, but as is always the case, when you go looking for it again, you just can’t seem to find it.  I did add the extended part to the card.  Please let me know if you recognise it, so that I can give you the credit, but in the meantime, thank you so much for your inspiration.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’
